Belize, previously known as British Honduras, lies on the East coast of
Central America in the heart of the Caribbean Basin, bordered by Mexico
to the North, Guatemala to the West and South, and flanked by the Caribbean
sea to the East.
The climate is
subtropical, with breeze from the Caribbean Sea. The
annual temperature is 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
English is the official language
with Spanish, Creole, Garifuna and Mayan widely spoken.
The Belize dollar (BZ$) has a fixed
exchange rate of BZ$2 to US$1. Maya Breeze Inn does accept

excellent to drink. It is advised to drink bottled water while
away from the Inn on tours.
There
are no serious epidemic diseases in Belize. No inoculations are required
for entry. It is advisable to have a current tetanus shot.
Anti-malaria tablets are only recommended if you plan to stay for an extended
period of time in the jungle.
To enter Belize you must have a valid passport with an expiration date
not more than 30 days prior to your arrival. Visitors are permitted
to stay up to 30 days with proof of return ticket.
The dress is very casual
here with a casual lifestyle. If you plan to visit the Cayes
to scuba dive or snorkel, you can plan to bring your own gear
or rental equipment is available. Plan to bring T-shirts,
shorts, bathing suits, comfortable tennis shoes, deck shoes
and sandals. It is wise to bring a wide brim hat
and sunglasses.
If you plan to hike the jungle, cave explore or visit the Mayan
Sites, we suggest you bring loose fitting, light colored cotton pants and long sleeved
camping shirts. |
